Puerto Plata to receive a weekly charter flight from Bucharest starting November 19
Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic — The Dominican north coast will strengthen its international air connectivity with the addition of direct charter flights from Bucharest, capital of Romania, to Puerto Plata's Gregorio Luperón International Airport, starting November 19, 2026, an operation confirmed in the commercial schedule of European tour operator Paralela45.
The flights will be operated by LOT Polish Airlines of Poland, using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft with capacity for 252 passengers. The route will run weekly, on Thursdays, with departures from Bucharest scheduled through January 28, 2027, and the last return flight expected on February 4. The operation covers approximately 11 arrivals in Puerto Plata, with a potential capacity of 2,772 inbound seats during the season.
According to the published itinerary, flights will depart Bucharest's Henri Coandă International Airport at 12:45 p.m., arriving in Puerto Plata at 7:05 p.m. local time, after a journey of approximately 12 hours and 20 minutes. The offer is already available for booking through Paralela45, which sells tour packages to the Dominican Republic.
The opening of this connection represents an opportunity to diversify tourist markets toward Puerto Plata, especially from Eastern Europe, and could have a favorable impact on hotel occupancy, restaurants, excursions, tourist transport and other services in Sosúa, Cabarete and the rest of the north coast destinations. Flights are scheduled and on sale, although their times and dates remain subject to possible operational adjustments.
