Dominican Republic: Indomet forecasts less rain this Saturday and downpours on Sunday

Santo Domingo — The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) forecast a decrease in rainfall during this Saturday, October 31, across much of the Dominican Republic, due to an air mass with lower moisture content, although it anticipated an increase in precipitation for Sunday, November 1.

In its 6:00 a.m. report, valid until Monday, November 2, at the same time, the agency explained that on Saturday there will be isolated showers and occasional thunderstorms, mainly in the provinces of Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, La Altagracia and El Seibo, as well as over the Caribbean Sea.

During the afternoon, precipitation could extend toward Greater Santo Domingo, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega and San Cristóbal, as well as parts of the Central Mountain Range, the Cibao Valley and the border zone, and could continue into the early hours of the night, according to Indomet.

For the National District and the provinces of Santo Domingo Norte, Oeste and Este, the forecast calls for scattered clouds in the morning, with a chance of isolated showers or downpours in the afternoon, accompanied by occasional or isolated thunderstorms. Low temperatures will range between 22 and 23 degrees Celsius, while highs will range between 30 and 32 degrees.

The outlook will change on Sunday: winds from the east/northeast and a trough will favor precipitation from the early morning, with the greatest increase in the afternoon, when moderate to occasionally heavy downpours, thunderstorms and possible wind gusts could occur.

Among the localities most likely to see rain on Sunday are parts of Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Monte Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana and La Altagracia, as well as Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez and San Juan, among others.
