Dominican Republic: Estrellas Orientales visit Águilas Cibaeñas tonight to complete rain-suspended game

Santiago de los Caballeros — The Estrellas Orientales visit the Águilas Cibaeñas this Monday to continue the game suspended by rain last Wednesday at Estadio Cibao, in the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) 2026-2027 autumn-winter tournament.

The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will resume under the same conditions in which it stopped: with the score tied 0-0 in the bottom of the second inning. The maintenance crew's efforts were not enough to get the field ready at the time, and the umpires ruled that play could not continue.

Veteran pitcher Esmil Rogers will return to the mound for the Estrellas. Rogers started that game on Wednesday and completed one inning without allowing any runs before the rain forced the suspension, so he will pick up his outing where he left off.

The Estrellas arrive in first place in the standings, with five wins and two losses, after winning their last three games in a row. In their two most recent wins over the Gigantes del Cibao, the green team scored 24 runs and recorded 24 hits, with standout home runs from Raimel Tapia, including a grand slam, Panama's Leo Bernal and Cuba's César Prieto.

Under Article 10 of LIDOM's regulations, when a game is suspended before completing five innings — or four and a half if the home team is leading — it must be continued under the same conditions in which it stopped, with each team allowed to add two players to its roster. The Estrellas lead the Tigres del Licey, who stand at 5-3, by half a game.
