Rays and Brewers to play an unprecedented World Series: it starts Friday the 23rd in Milwaukee

The 2026 World Series already has its matchup, and it will be a first: the Tampa Bay Rays will face the Milwaukee Brewers in a final between two franchises that have never won a championship. The Rays clinched on Monday with a 7-3 win over the Cleveland Guardians in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series, while the Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League.

The ticket was sealed at Tropicana Field with Dominican and Cuban flavor. Starter Freddy Peralta, the series MVP, worked six innings allowing just one run, and in the seventh Dominican Junior Caminero hit a two-run homer that put the game away. Cleveland threatened a comeback in the eighth, but Cuban Yandy Díaz put the final 7-3 on the board with another home run before more than 25,000 fans.

The Fall Classic will begin on Friday, October 23, at American Family Field in Milwaukee. The Brewers will have home-field advantage after posting the best regular-season record: 103 wins and 59 losses, compared with 98 and 64 for Tampa Bay. Oddsmakers list them as favorites at -182 against +140 for the Rays.

It will be the Rays' second World Series appearance — they lost in 2020 to the Dodgers — and also the Brewers' second, after falling in 1982. The winner of the best-of-seven series will be known no later than Saturday, October 31.
