World Series: Rays win 4-3 in 12 innings and avoid the sweep; series stands 3-1
St. Petersburg, Florida — The Tampa Bay Rays refused to die: they beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 in 12 innings in Game 4 of the 2026 World Series on Tuesday and avoided the sweep at Tropicana Field, with a walk-off single by Ben Williamson with the bases loaded and nobody out in the bottom of the 12th.
Milwaukee had been three outs away from the first championship in franchise history: rookie Cooper Pratt, 22, led off the 12th with a solo home run off Ian Seymour to make it 3-2, his fourth hit of the night — the most ever by a rookie in a potential World Series-clinching game.
But Tampa Bay answered right away. In the bottom of the 12th, Junior Caminero reached on a throwing error, Liam Hicks, Jonny DeLuca and Chandler Simpson hit consecutive singles to tie the game, and Williamson drove in Nick Fortes with the winning run.
The game had reached extra innings tied 2-2: Tampa Bay went ahead in the second on an RBI double by Chandler Simpson and in the fourth on a DeLuca fielder's choice, while Milwaukee tied it in the fourth on a Pratt double and in the fifth on a David Hamilton home run.
The series now stands 3-1 for Milwaukee, still one win away from its first title. Game 5 will be played Wednesday, again in St. Petersburg.
