New York: early voting tops 224,000 voters in its first three days

New York — Early voting in New York City topped 224,000 voters at the close of its third day, according to Board of Elections data cited by NBC New York, confirming a strong start to voting ahead of the November 3 elections.

The borough-by-borough breakdown at the end of day three was: Manhattan, 63,195 voters; the Bronx, 23,685; Brooklyn, 64,556; Queens, 54,595; and Staten Island, 18,863, for a total of 224,894 check-ins, still unofficial at the close of polls. Day one had drawn 86,215 voters, so turnout nearly tripled over three days.

In-person early voting in the city is available through November 1, and officials remind voters they may go to any early voting site in the city, not necessarily the one in their neighborhood. The general election will be held on Tuesday, November 3.

The enthusiasm is not only local: more than 30 million Americans had already voted early a week before the midterm elections, according to the University of Florida's Election Lab, as cited by AURN. In New York state, more than 485,000 people voted during the first two days, compared with about 262,000 in the same period in 2022, according to Spectrum News 1.

For the Latino community, civic organizations stress the same message: 'It's important that Latinos who are eligible to vote go out and vote and make their voices heard,' an appeal that carries weight in elections that will decide, among other offices, the state governorship and key seats in Congress.
