New York: early voting continues after a first day with 86,215 voters; Mamdani already cast his ballot
New York — Early voting continues on Monday in New York City, after 86,215 New Yorkers took part on Saturday on the first day, according to the city's Board of Elections cited by the New York Post.
The figure is slightly higher than the 79,409 voters on the first day of early voting in the 2025 general election, in which Zohran Mamdani became mayor.
Mayor Mamdani himself voted on Saturday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan, and urged New Yorkers to vote “yes” on the five ballot proposals, covering public space, city contracting, street safety, building permits and financial reserves.
The early voting period runs through November 1. Polls are open mostly from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with exceptions on October 27 and 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on October 29, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Election Day will be Tuesday, November 3, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
In addition to the proposals, voters are deciding statewide races such as governor, between Democrat Kathy Hochul and Republican Bruce Blakeman; attorney general, between Democrat Letitia James and Republican Saritha Komatireddy; and comptroller, between Democrat Tom DiNapoli and Republican Joseph Hernandez.
Election authorities recommend checking your assigned early voting site, which may differ from your Election Day polling place, and reviewing both sides of the ballot before scanning it.
