More than 690,000 New Yorkers have already voted early ahead of Tuesday’s elections in New York

New York — New York City closed its early voting period on Sunday with more than 690,000 ballots cast, according to figures released on Monday, on the eve of the general elections on Tuesday, November 3.

Brooklyn led turnout, with 219,536 voters, followed by Manhattan, according to the count released on Monday. The figures reflect considerable mobilization ahead of Election Day, although they do not indicate which candidate will benefit, since the ballots remain subject to the official count.

In the final hours of the campaign, Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul and her Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman are stepping up their activities. Hochul is scheduled to visit a subway station in Harlem, while Blakeman is touring cities across the state, with announced stops in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Binghamton, before ending in Manhattan.

The governor took part on Sunday in an event in Astoria, Queens, alongside Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Blakeman, meanwhile, held events on Long Island alongside Republican leaders. The contest centers on issues such as taxes, public safety, the cost of living and the relationship between the state government and the city administration.

The general elections will be held on Tuesday, with polling places open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The early voting period ended on Sunday, so no in-person early voting centers will be open on Monday.

In addition to the governorship, voters will decide other state and federal offices, including legislative races in parts of southern Brooklyn and Rockaway. Authorities recommend checking the assigned polling place before leaving home, as locations may differ from those used for early voting.
