Magali Febles and Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2026 injured in traffic accident in Santo Domingo

Renowned beauty pageant coach Magali Febles and the current Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2026, Melissa Núñez, were injured on Friday night in a traffic accident on Núñez de Cáceres Avenue, in the El Millón sector of the National District, the newspaper Diario Libre reported.

According to preliminary reports, the vehicle in which both women were traveling overturned for reasons that have not yet been officially established. Emergency units arrived at the scene and assisted the two women, who were then taken to a private medical center in the National District for a more thorough evaluation.

Febles reported headaches and pain on the right side of her body, although she initially showed no visible signs of trauma. Núñez suffered superficial lacerations on her right arm, specifically on the forearm and wrist. According to reports, no other people were injured in the accident.

The incident comes just days before Núñez travels to Puerto Rico to represent the country in the Miss Universe pageant, scheduled for November 24. The queen, who represents Concepción de La Vega and was crowned on July 30, was due to arrive on the island this Sunday, November 8, for the start of the contestants' concentration, and her arrival is now under evaluation, according to El Nuevo Día.

The Miss Universe organization in the Dominican Republic has not yet commented on the accident or on whether it will have any consequence for Núñez's participation in the pageant.
