Technology: Madrid to invest over 16 million euros in training in artificial intelligence, cloud and cybersecurity
Madrid, Spain — The Community of Madrid has approved a program worth more than 16 million euros to train unemployed people and workers in artificial intelligence, IT infrastructure, cloud services and cybersecurity, four areas facing a shortage of qualified professionals.
The initiative, authorized by the regional Governing Council and published this Sunday, October 25, continues the region's Digital Talent Boost Plan and will run for 24 months, funded through the 2026, 2027 and 2028 budgets, according to the official note.
The courses will be free and are aimed both at people out of work and at workers looking to update their skills in technologies companies increasingly demand: using artificial intelligence tools, managing cloud infrastructure and services, and protecting against cyberattacks.
The shortage of professionals in these areas is one of the bottlenecks European tech companies point to when filling vacancies, at a time when artificial intelligence is being built into offices, factories and public services. The training therefore aims to improve participants' employability and help workers move into digital jobs.
The program adds to other digital talent measures in the region and strengthens Madrid's bid to position itself as a technology training hub in Spain, with courses combining technical skills and certifications demanded by the labor market.
