The Knicks raise their championship banner at Madison Square Garden ahead of facing the Philadelphia 76ers

NEW YORK. — The championship celebration continues this Tuesday at Madison Square Garden: the New York Knicks will raise their NBA championship banner and receive their rings at 6:30 p.m. (Eastern), minutes before the season's opening tip-off against the Philadelphia 76ers, scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The New York team won its first championship in 53 years this summer by defeating the San Antonio Spurs in five games in the NBA Finals, and nearly the entire championship roster is back to defend the title, led by Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby, according to NBC Sports.

Tonight's ceremony opens a tripleheader marking the NBA's return to NBC and Peacock: first the Boston Celtics face the Detroit Pistons at 3:00 p.m., and the night closes with the Oklahoma City Thunder against the San Antonio Spurs at 9:30 p.m., in a rematch of the Western Conference Finals.

The league noted that the 2026-27 season will feature 100 regular-season games across its marquee nights: Peacock NBA Monday starting October 26, Coast 2 Coast Tuesday starting October 27, and Sunday Night Basketball starting January 24, 2027, including 10 games in Spanish on Telemundo.
