October ACD Media poll: 13.7% of Dominicans would not vote, and the PRM leads with 29.7% toward 2028
The share of Dominicans who say they would not vote if the presidential election were held today rose from 10% in August to 13.7% in October, according to the two latest ACD Media polls. The 3.7-point increase coincides with a deterioration in the perception of the country's situation.
Those who rule out voting and those who don't know or don't answer total 25% of respondents, up from 22.5% in August. The firm notes this figure is not a projection of abstention for 2028, but the declared electoral disposition at the time of the fieldwork. Distance from political organizations remains considerable: 59.9% say they sympathize with no party, barely below the 60.6% recorded in August.
As for voting intention, the order holds: the PRM leads with 29.7%, followed by Fuerza del Pueblo at 21.7% and the PLD at 17.2%. In August they stood at 29.1%, 20.5% and 18.5%, respectively. The movements are small, but they widen the gap between the opposition parties: Fuerza del Pueblo now leads the PLD by 4.5 points, up from two points in August. The PRM's lead over FP narrows from 8.6 to eight points.
Discontent with the national situation is more pronounced: negative opinions rise from 49.5% to 57%, while positive ones fall from 48.7% to 40.6%, a 16.4-point margin in favor of unfavorable assessments.
In the PRM's internal presidential preferences there are also changes: David Collado keeps the lead among party members but drops from 59.9% to 49.9%; Carolina Mejía rises from 20.5% to 24.6% and Raquel Peña moves from 6.5% to 9.5%. Among the general population, Collado draws 39.4% and Mejía 18.3%. Willingness to vote for digital-media figures outside traditional parties also declines, from 48.6% to 35.8%.
Both surveys report 1,200 interviews and a 95% confidence level. Fieldwork took place August 8–11 and October 9–11, 2026.
