DNCD seizes more than 26,000 grams of drugs and arrests 53 people in Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) arrested 53 people and seized more than 26,000 grams of suspected narcotics during a wide-ranging series of operations carried out on Saturday in different areas of the National District and Santo Domingo Este.

According to the agency's report, 146 tactical interventions were carried out, including six raids and 140 operations, in coordination with the Public Ministry and with the support of the National Police. In total, 1,458 portions of suspected drugs were taken off the streets: 8,932 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine in the National District and 16,591 grams in Santo Domingo Este, plus 719 packages of a plant believed to be marijuana. The total consolidated weight is 26,244.2 grams.

In the National District, 68 interventions were carried out, with six raids and 62 operations, leaving 15 people detained in neighborhoods such as Manganagua, Domingo Sabio, Los Pinos, Guachupita, Capotillo, San Carlos, Los Guandules, Gazcue, Las Cañitas and Gualey.

In Santo Domingo Este, 78 operations were deployed, with 38 people arrested in neighborhoods such as Los Mina Norte and Sur, Catanga, Mendoza, Los Frailes, San Luis, El Almirante, Invimosa, Invivienda, Villa Faro and Cancino. Scales, cash and vehicles were also seized during the day.

The DNCD said these actions are part of stepped-up strategies against street-level drug dealing and a response to citizen complaints. Those detained and the evidence were handed over to the Public Ministry, while the seized substances were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), where they will be analyzed to determine their exact composition and weight.
