World Series: Brewers look to sweep the Rays in Game 4 tonight and win their first title
St. Petersburg, Florida — The Milwaukee Brewers are one win away from history. Up 3-0 in the World Series, the team will try to complete the sweep against the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 4, scheduled for Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at Tropicana Field, televised by FOX and FOX Deportes.
Milwaukee arrives on a roll after crushing Tampa Bay 10-1 in Game 3 on Monday, with eight runs in the fifth inning. Across the three games, the Brewers have outscored the Rays 18 runs to 7, and their pitching has kept a rival offense in check that only scored in the ninth inning of the last game.
Tampa Bay, with its back against the wall, will send Griffin Jax to the mound, who went 8-10 with a 3.53 ERA in the regular season. In this postseason, Jax is 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA in two appearances. Milwaukee, meanwhile, has not yet announced its starter and is expected to use a bullpen game, with its high-leverage relief rested after Monday’s blowout.
William Contreras has driven in a run in all three games and is 7-for-13 in the series, while Jackson Chourio, 8-for-14, had his best game in Game 3, going 4-for-5 with a double, a stolen base, one RBI and two runs. Both rank as the leading candidates for World Series MVP, according to FOX Sports.
The Brewers have never won a World Series: their only previous appearance came in 1982, when they fell to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games. The Rays, meanwhile, are 0-2 in their two previous World Series, losing to the Phillies in 2008 and the Dodgers in 2020. If Tampa Bay wins tonight, the series will continue Wednesday with Game 5, also in St. Petersburg.
